Simplot | In blue ink on old tape labels on soles: no 50 - Alaskin [sic]/seal skin/moccasin | Dress and Adornment, Daily and/or Festive Adornment. Hair-on sealskin, blonde with brown spots, one piece soles and sides gathered at toes to large oblong apron of orange felt, T heel seam, sealskin binding around upper edges. Apron is applique stitch beaded with an eagle with white head and tail, black wings and a pumpkin triangle flaned by 2 green crescents on its chest. Koerner, III and Ruth Koerner Oliver. | Description: Crow woman's saddle with wooden tree, rawhide covered, beaded pommel and cantle pendants made of back canvas front flannel (red wool tradecloth) with Crow geometric design beaded in blue, (2 shades), pink, green, white and yellow. Braided cinch of rawhide, center fire decorated with fringes from pommel and cantle. Stirrups unattached, rawhide covered, one has trade cloth with design, matching stirrup beaded pendants. Foundation of woven string, reinforced with a few rows of twine at bottom edge, overwrapped with natural corn husks and colored yarns. Front flap has a zigzag edged diamond design in maroon-cream-medium blue-pink-light blue-orange; near lower edge is a single maroon line with four maroon pyramids suspended from it; edge is bound with pink flannel. Front of pouch has a zigzag edged diamond design in violet-orange-lime green with a center cross in violet and orange; at both sides are zigzag lines of violet triangles; at top edge is a double line of kelly green with four kelly green pyramids suspended from it; top edge is bound with pink flannel. Back side has four horizontal lines, two are violet-green-violet and two are maroon-pink-maroon; two buckskin thongs are tied through upper back to form belt loops. Hair-on sealskin, grey-blonde with brown spots, one piece soles and sides with straight to seam and welted T heel seam, oblong blue felt apron, rectangular red wool cloth collar. Apron is applique stitch beaded with a frog heading toward toe outlined in pumpkin and dark blue (4 beads each color at a time, alternating), white mouth eyes and "backbone" and green "ribs". Single line of white beads covers seam between apron and upper while ankle edge has black cloth binding and white picot beading. Collar has 2 foliate designs outlined in white and black with the longer design on the left on both collars. A petaled flower design at heels is outlined in green and clear light pink. Edges are bound with black sateen and trimmed with alternating white and blue picot beading.
