Coe | L-shaped pipe, with inverted acorn shape bowl on the round stem base, with slight (1/2" L) anterior, angled projection. Stem base inlaid overall (3 1/8"L) with crossed over diamond pattern in lead. Coe | Knife (a): Porcupine quill work on both pieces. Knife is oxidized but good condition otherwise. Pommel of knife is carved pipestone as a human head with scalplock. Three quill wrapped pieces attached to the top of the head. Sheath (b): Blackened deer skin, quillwok, beads ans tassels are all intact. Coe | Black steatite, rectangular, with pointed anterior projection (1 ¼" L). Square base, with elevated, angular (1" L) portion near stem boring; top and two sides have inlay pattern-catlinite inset in a lead triangle, outlined with lead above triangle (steatite showing) Top panel has two smaller triangles designs. Two long, exterior sides have 2 ½" lead, steep triangle with double ½ circle design towards top - inlay with 1 ¼" piece of catlinite.
