1988.8.888 | ca.1865 | L: 49.75 in, Barrel length: 32.5 in, H: 7.5 in | Gift of Olin Corporation, Winchester Arms Collection | This arm was originally a Spencer Cavalry carbine made under contract by the Burnside Rifle Co., Providence, R.I., c. 1865. It was altered to an infantry rifle at the Springfield Armory, c. 1871. About 1100 were so altered.
