NA.202.1283 | ca. 1880 | L: 12.5 in, width: 32.75 in | The Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Collection, acquired through the generosity of the Dyck family and additional gifts of the Nielson Family and the Estate of Margaret S. Coe | Woman's yoke, covered in yellow pigment with green on edge of sleeve before fringes begin. Five rows of alternating black and white seed beads boarder the bottom three points of the yoke in the fron and the back. The fringes on the arms are sewn on with sinewand average about 21 inches. The beads are also attached with sinew. Black and white beads also decotade the collar. Two fringes on each arm still have fur attached. These are wider and are self-fringed along the length of the strip. "Hour glass" shaped with oblong hole in center for head to fit through. Background is blue. Outer panels have red and yellow rectangles and pyramid shapes. Inner panels have alternating blue, red and yellow crosses and blue, red, yellow and green triangles. Green, yellow and blue bands through center and green band around center hole. Red, blue and yellow bands on outer edges of inner panels and along top and bottom edges. Entire piece trimmed in fringe - short on sides, long on top and bottom.
