A nickel-silver medallion is inlaid in the buttstock. Based on Browning's patent (U.S. 524,702), the Model 1894 became famous and popular throughout the world, and continues in manufacture today. Nickel steel barrels for smokeless powder cartridges were standard, and the .30/30 W.C.F. cartridge was designed for this model. Over four million Model 94 arms have been produced and it is unquestionably the most successful center fire, lever action model ever made by Winchester.
