NA.203.1234 | L: 42.75 in, width: 32 in | Gift of Harris A. and Lee Thompson | Woman's Two-piece Dress, Navajo, circa last quarter 19th century, weaver unknown. Very firmly and smoothly executed blanket weave having 11 warp and 38-44 weft threads to the linear inch. Workmanship is excellent. Lazy lines are tight and inconspicuous. New condition. Black and red Manta; Woman's dress; late, ravelled red flannel per Clay Lockett. Cross or plus sign decorative motif on ends, with stepped pyramid designs on border/finish, probably indigo. Black handspun, Z spun fairly coarse. Never used. JBW dates 1875-1880 because this pattern comes in them about 1860.
