Gifts from Russia

In 1872, Grand Duke Alexis of Russia presented Buffalo Bill with a stickpin and cufflinks showcasing diamond studded bison heads. Buffalo Bill also noted the Grand Duke presented him an elaborate fur coat. Later, Buffalo Bill removed the diamond studded bison heads and made a brooch and two rings for his wife and two daughters. Czar Alexander II also presented to Buffalo Bill a fine fur robe. Buffalo Bill later gave the robe to General Miles. The robe includes various furs, including sable, mink, snow leopard, and others, arranged in a geometric patchwork.
