The Lower Falls of the Yellowstone
The Center of the West's Whitney Western Art Museum has several works of art that depict the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone (often called "Yellowstone Falls") from Artist's Point, this collection among them. Keep these in mind when you get to this viewpoint during your tour of the park, and see how—even with some artistic license—most of these are faithful representations of the Falls. But take a look at the last painting in this grouping. While Thomas Moran's "Golden Gate" is an actual place in the park, the Lower Falls cannot be seen from it; Moran nonetheless included the iconic falls far (look closely!) in the far background of this work.
