|Remington's sculpture representing a human struggle to control nature has become a classic symbol of the American West. The artist identified the subject as a cowboy "breaking a wild horse" in his copyright application for the first version of this sculpture. His twenty-three inch high bronze was so successful that the artist reworked the concept and modeled this larger version at the end of his life.|
