Gloss:
In modeling a sculpture of bison, Sander emphasized the mass and power of the animal. Her sculpture also reveals the effects of patinas in providing color for the surface. Patinas are made by brushing an acid solution on to the surface of the sculpture. Different chemical mixtures produce the variety of colors.
