Gloss:
An emphasis on realism in contemporary western art has encouraged the development of painted bronzes. McGary heightens the illusion of reality by painting intricate details to simulate the textures of diverse materials, such as fabric, feathers, beadwork, leather. In this work he depicted American Horse, (1840-1908), a leader of the Oglala Sioux.
