Origin: When - 8-24-89 Jim Haas of Butterfield said this is Modoc. (EAB) | Shasta or Wintu plain twined spruce root over a hazel or willow foundation. The bear grass and maidenhair fern design is a full twist overlay. Cotton cloth is stitched around the opening. A Shasta or Wintu affiliation is preferred because of the added additional warps leading to the undulating appearance in the shape (Bryn Potter: 7/2013- AMD).
