Apache basket of coiled weave, natural color with black geometric design throughout, rawhide thong handle at top, n.d. Gift of above source, 1967 catalog no. 477. ORIGIN: When - 8-24-89 Jim Haas of Butterfield said that this date should be ca. 1900. (EAB) | Coiled willow on a three rod willow foundation. Devil's claw and faded red and blue dyed willow make up the design elements. the basket has a herringbone rim finish with a tanned hide thong threaded under the rim as a handle. This basket is not traditional and was probably made for sale (Bryn Potter: 7/2013- AMD).
