Credit Line: Gift of The Coe Foundation. Navajo wedding basket of coiled weave, circular, natural color with darker brown geometric design throughout, c. 1890. Supposedly made by Southern Ute and traded to Navajo. Gift of above source, 1967 Catalog No. 493. | Coiled sumac Navajo-style wedding basket over a three rod willow or sumac foundation with a herringbone rim finish and a dyed sumac design. Evidence of corn meal in the basket may mean Navajo ceremonial use (Bryn Potter: 7/2013- AMD).
