Gloss:
Harvey Walklate Mortimer was born in 1753. He was apprenticed to his father Samuel in 1772 and gained freedom of the London Gunmakers Guild in 1782. He was appointed gunmaker to King George III in 1783. He is last listed as active gunmaker in 1811 and died in 1819. During his career he was noted for making first quality pistols and rifles.
