Big Brave, Blackfeet Dance Chief
Partial Bequest of Vernon R. Drwenski and Museum Purchase
Sharp visited the Blackfeet Reservation, Montana, in the summer of 1905, the year he had his cabin built on the Crow Reservation. This portrait reveals Sharp's early portrait style, with his attention to detail and rich brushwork. He often silhouetted the figures against a green bacground, to complement the figure's warm colors.
