Remarks:
Long buffalo hide coat, made of pieced mismatched hides; golden brown sheared sheepskin shawl collar and wide cuffs (color may be dyed); slash pocket in each side of front with lower placket of sheared dark brown sheepskin and gray velveteen linings; 2 brown and black wood grain celluloid toggles on left side of front, 1 on right side with 5 loops near each front opening edgemade of 15 strands of twisted brown thread covered with a round herringtone weave of 18 strands twisted dark brown thread, toggles are attached with this same cord; under collar on each side is a black 1-1/4" 4-hole button with a third button under collar near right shoulder seam; body of coat is lined with black cotton steen machine quilted to wool batting with light rose thread; quilting pattern is 1" squares with both front edges more closely quilted (approx. 3/8" squares), inset breast pocket in left side with black twill cotton sateen facings and gray velveteen lining, gold-colored single link hanging chain sewn at upper back neck edge; sleeves are lined with black with double white pinstriped cotton sateen, underarms are reinforced with black leather patches, lower sleeves have dark brown knit wrist bands hand sewn in. Supposed to have belonged to Buffalo Bill.
