Remarks:
Calamity Jane's Coat - Brain-tanned buckskin, yellow ochre dyed; frontiersman-style cut with stand-up collar, fringed shoulder and sleeve seams, 5 button front, fringed bottom and back side seams; seams are sewn with sinew; collar and front edges and ends of sleeves are bound with faded olive greenish muslin handsewn with thread; 3 remaining brass buttons have a raised pastoral scene on top with a man guiding a plow behind a horse, house on a hill and sun setting behind a second hill, stamped on back: SCOVILL/MFG. Co; middle button hole has a vertical hole between it and front edge that is sinew sewn at top and bottom; cresent-shaped cut in lower left sleeve; worn holes in lower left front corner. Originally also had fur collar and cuff attachments and a cloth lining hand sewn in.
