Remarks:
Long buffalo leather coat, brain-tanned and yellow ochre dyed. Zig-zag edged flaps in shoulder seams. Zigzag edged shawl collar overlaid with baby buffalo(?). Furred collar (machine pieced and probably cut from another garment). Zig-zag bottom edge. Short fringes along upper left front edge and sleeve ends. Longer fringes in back shoulder seams and back side seams. Of two remaining buttons, one is brown horn 1" in diameter, the other is a mother-of-pearl ear bob approximately 1" in diameter. Sleeve seams are welted and have remnants of red wool binding around cuffs. Center back is split to thigh level with a square of yellow buckskin and a square of red wool, both with zigzag cut bottom edges. Sewn over top of cut with 3-paired buckskin thong ties along stitching line. Near right shoulder blade is a red 17. Shoulder seams are also red lined. Most stitching is sinew except repairs and later additions which are various colors of thread.
