Crazy Horse, chief of the Oglala Sioux, was a legendary leader of his people during the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1876 and the Sioux War of 1876-77. The chief did not perish in the glory of battle but was fatally wounded by a soldier's bayonet during his arrest at Camp Robinson, Nebraska. Greeves' depiction of Crazy Horse represents the pride and perseverence of the famous chief.
