The Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Collection, acquired through the generosity of the Dyck family and additional gifts of the Nielson Family and the Estate of Margaret S. Coe
Piece of wood, wrapped in tanned hide and then wrapped in single row string of glass seed beads. Majority bright yellow beads with center area of dark blue and green stripes. Beater is tanned hide with possible stuffing or more layers of tanned hide, attached to the top of stick with hide strip, fringed bottom. . Both sides of exterior of beater is dyed porcupine quills: single wide rows; 2 bright yellow outlining rows and 1 center row. Either side of center yellow is bright pink and purple alternating stripes. Outlined in single row of medium blue seed beads. Triangular hide tab at bottom of stick with dyed quilled design onto the hide. Backed and edges with red cotton cloth. Yellow majority with 4 red boxes w/ single green box in center - all centered vertically, with attached hide fringe. Single black quill on tow long sides serves as outline.
