Single drum head of rawhide stretched over 3 ¾" W wooden frame, one piece bent around and bound together with small round metal fasteners. Rawhide is pulled tightly over the wooden base and double laced through holes on the outside and inside of wood. Eleven (11) rawhide cords are knotted through the outside of the frame, meeting in center in 3" dia. basket weave pattern. Heavy red paint or ochre overall. Interior (verso) of drumhead is covered with 1"dia. ochre dots. The cover is cotton cloth, seamed at top for hide strip to pull through hide strip - machine sewn. Heavily striped and marked with paint, and ochre.
