The Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Collection, acquired through the generosity of the Dyck family and additional gifts of the Nielson Family and the Estate of Margaret S. Coe
Swept-back bonnet, no trail. Skull cap of five sections of tanned hide sewn together; outer circle of 35 golden eagle feathers and 35 down fluffs on outer perimeter. Feathers are wrapped and stitched in red commercial leather. 2 ¼" W added brow band - majority white with three (3) green mountains with red steps and med. blue doors outlined in white. Two (2) round 2 ½" dia. leather disks on either end of brow band - beaded in light blue background with bison in center and 4 small tipis in white with red doors. Five (5) ermine full hides hang off each side of brow band. 4" dia. round beaded leather disk sewn to back of skull cap in majority white seed beads with morning star in light blue with black and medium blue ends.
