Gloss:
One of a pair of consecutively numbered Model 1885 "Baby" carbines featuring identical finish and similar embellishment. This carbine has select grained walnut stocking without checkering. The frame and buttplate are gold plated, and the remainder is nickel plated. The engraving, with deer motif reminiscent of the 1897 "Highly Finished Arms" catalog, is attributed to John Ulrich.
