Winchester purchased production rights for the rifle and cartridge clip, and manufactured musket style arms for the U.S. Navy and limited numbers of sporting rifles. The military pattern was known as the U.S. Navy Rifle, Model 1895, caliber 6mm or .236 C.F. Many of these arms were use in the Spanish-American War. Very few Lee arms were made in sporting pattern.
