The Remington New Model revolver was manufactured from 1863 to 1875; approximately 132,000 were produced. One of the major handguns of the Civil War, it was second only to the Colt Model 1860 Army revolver in military distribution. Approximately 110,000 were purchased by the United States government. This was Remington's last .44 caliber percussion revolver.
