From the 2007 Standard Catalog of Firearms (17th Ed.) Ruger New Model Blackhawk (SRM) "This is the New Model Blackhawk with a 7.5? or 10.5? barrel. It was chambered for the .357 Maximum and was intended for silhouette shooting. This model experienced problems with gas erosion in the forcing cone and under the top strap and was removed from production in 1984 after 9200 were manufactured."
