The Model 1902 single shot rifle was of the same general design as the earlier Model 1900, but was improved in quality. Changes included pistol grip, trigger guard, steel buttplate, rear peep sight as standard, and a slightly heavier barrel. This design enjoyed great popularity in the export trade and was included in the Winchester Rifle Corps Range Kit No. 2. This Model was also used in making up target pistols by the company employees. Manufacture of the Model 1902 was discontinued in 1931; about 640,300 were produced.
