Gloss:
The Model 1900 single shot, bolt action rifle was based on a Browning patent design (U.S. 632,904) purchased by Winchester. This model was intended as a serviceable, low-priced arm handling .22 caliber rim fire cartridges. It was not successful because of light weight and cheap construction, and was superseded by the redesigned Model 1902 single shot rifle.
