Gloss:
The Model 54 was the first Winchester bolt action, repeating rifle designed for heavy, high velocity ammunition. A new cartridge, the .270 Winchester, was developed in concert with the rifle design. In all, this rifle was chambered for .270 Winchester, .30 Govt. 06, .30/30 W.C.F., 7mm, 7.65mm, 250-3000 Savage, .22 Hornet, .220 Swift and .275 Roberts. The manufacture of this model was discontinued in 1936; 50,145 were made. This Winchester experimental bolt action rifle ultimately led to the Model 54. Magazine capacity: 5 cartridges (detachable box magazine).
