This is a Remington - Hepburn No. 3 sporting rifle. It was designed by Lewis L. Hepburn, a superintendent at the Remington plant and a noted long range marksman. This type was made from about 1883 to 1907, after patents were issued in 1879. About 9,000 of this Remington model were made in a variety of calibers ranging from .25/20 to .45/70.
