38s top lever, breakdown model, known as the Winchester Model 24 Double Barrel shotgun, was first announced in the January 2, 1940, price list. Factory records show the first delivery of Model 24 shotguns to warehouse stock was made on April 21, 1939. Discontinued in 1957, about 116,280 were made (Barnes: 1980). This Model 24 is a factory pre-production, sample piece.
