THE MODEL 1893 SLIDE ACTION REPEATING SHOTGUN WAS BASED ON BROWNING PATENT DESIGNS PURCHASED BY WINCHESTER IN 1890. IT WAS THE FIRST SHOTGUN WITH A SLIDING FOREARM MANUFACTURED BY WINCHESTER, AND FEATURED A VISIBLE HAMMER AND RIGHT SIDE EJECTION. THE MODEL 1893 DID NOT FUNCTION SATISFACTORILY WITH SMOKELESS POWDER SHOTSHELLS AND WAS REDESIGNED AS THE MODEL 1897. MANUFACTURED IN 12 GAUGE ONLY. MAGAZINE CAPACITY: FIVE SHOTSHELLS.
