The Winchester Model 1200 slide action shotgun, in Standard Grade, was introduced in 1964. This all-new gun had a rifle-type, head-locking, rotating bolt with four lugs that lock into the barrel extension. This new design eliminated stress and strain to the gun's receiver during firing (Barnes: 1980). This experimental Model 1200 was submitted for sales approval but never manufactured with these engraved designs.
