Between 1879 and 1884, the Winchester Repeating Arms Company imported English-made double barrel shotguns for sale at their New York City store. At that time Winchester did not manufacture any shotguns. The English shotguns, marked with the Winchester name, were purchased by W.C. McEntree and Co., Richard Rodman, C.G. Bonehill and W.C. Scott and Son. Six gradations of shotguns were available: Winchester match gun, Winchester club gun, and classes A, B, C, and D. This shotgun has English twist steel or Damascus barrels. The "club" grade shotgun was of lower quality. It was made in Birmingham, England.
