Remarks:
Heel shave. Used to shave down the edges of the layers of leather which make up the ground seat of a saddle. Serpentine steel tool with two handles, painted black. Raised, 5-pointed star design on one handle; "7" on the other. Curved steel blade in center, attached with 2 screws. Blade is marked twice with a circle around a 5-pointed star. These were originally designed for use in shoemaking.
