Transportation: Land Transportation. Red wool rectangle pieced from 2 smaller rectangles with white selvedge edge running horizontally across forehead, inner edge of selvedge is trimmed with a row of 7/16" brass disks. Top knot of split, orange dyed owl feathers between oval ear holes. Round eye holes have appliqued 8-point stars of green wool around them, inner edge is trimmed with white pony beads, outer edge outlined in white seed beads. Across front and back are 4 beaded four-point stars with clear dark red centers and periwinkle blue arms, outlined in white. Inner border of green wool appliqued with zig-zag inner edge outlined with white beads, yellow and clear dark green triangles at points. Outer border is lazy stitch beaded in perwinkle blue with diagonal bars of royal blue on yellow with royal borders flanking pink boxes on back of hood and red boxes on front of hood. Outer edges are bound all around with blue and white plaid cotton. Three sets of leather thong ties attached underneath along sides.
As of 06-14-2017 this object is on display in the Plains Indian Museum. If you are making a special trip, please double-check before visiting.
