The Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Collection, acquired through the generosity of the Dyck family and additional gifts of the Nielson Family and the Estate of Margaret S. Coe
Pair of leggings numbered (a) and (b). Wool cloth bottom-panel style leggings. Green wool cloth folded in half with white non-dyed edge used as border on the sides. Machine stitched at an angle to create a downward rectangle shape pointing downward to top of fully beaded bottom-panel, then 3 leather ties inside. Machine sewn edges (all) fully done in red and purple layered ribbon, but most of ribbon is gone. Long wool (37"L) and cotton (20"L) ties sewn in at the unfinished tops. Wool tie were also edged with red/purple ribbons. Identical beaded panels (8"H x 14"W) - sewn onto dark blue cloth then attached- each have 4 panels of maroon cloth that could be polyester based? - if not cotton. Light blue faceted seed beads are base with 2 segments of 3 dark blue triangles anchoring 4 maroon triangles inset in white bar. Center design is 2 dark green stripes inset with 2 dark blue tipis, 1 orange stripe with dark blue triangle and up/down arrows.
