Exhibit Notes: Moccasins: Commercially tanned deer hide with rawhide soles. High top with beading running up the length of the high top. Applique floral design on the vamp with a bead border along the ankle seam as well. Row of silver tacks running the length of the top next to the beading. Brass trim on the edge of the high top. Kiowa and Plains people would wear these in everyday life and to festive events as well. . The treatment of the ankle flaps by the Kiowa is an important attribute.
