On handle (which is painted red 1/2 way up): "CRM4-u" [on handle:] embossed in gold color
Remarks:
Rawhide mallet. Round, wood, handle with rolled rawhide head. Mallet head is a tight 3-1/2" long cylinder. Rawhide end is tacked or nailed down with 2 nails across the top, 2 along the bottom and one on each side. Inscription on handle. Handle painted red 1/2 way up. Handle embossed in gold color. Does not appear to have been used. Used for striking punches and stamp tools. See Osborne catalog #55, pg 26 for similar item.
