Given to Buffalo Bill Museum by Sam Reber, grandson of Gen. Miles, from the estate of Gen. Miles.
Remarks:
Carriage or sleigh robe, sable, mink, snow leopard and other furs done in geometric patchwork. Originally given to Buffalo Bill by Czar Alexander II (Russia), father of Prince Alexis. Buffalo Bill later gave robe to General Miles. In Buffalo Bill's personal account, he was given a coat made of many types of Siberian fur. P.69.1105 shows Buffalo Bill, a young boy, and probably Frank Powell standing on carriage robe on the front steps of a house, possibly Powell's in Wisconsin, c. 1893.
