Gloss:
After selecting a pose sketched in pencil, Bama produces a series of thumbnail color studies to determine an appropriate palette and mood for the composition. Once satisfied with the composition, he transposes it to a gesso panel and applies a semi-opaque wash. He then proceeds to paint in oil. These preliminary sketches were made for the painting, A Contemporary Sioux Indian, on view in the Buffalo Bill Historical Center's Kriendler Gallery of Contemporary Western Art. Shown with 41.85-43.85
