The Paul Dyck Plains Indian Buffalo Culture Collection, acquired through the generosity of the Dyck family and additional gifts of the Nielson Family and the Estate of Margaret S. Coe
Skull cap made of wool cloth, covered on brow band with red wool, and 1 ¾" W beaded strip: white majority seed beads with three (3) full and two (2) half yellow tipis, edged in steps of dark blue. Center tipi has red square cross, tipis on either side have silver metallic square crosses. Bottom edged in brass tacks. Top is covered with white rabbit fur and a small fabric covered wooden hoop that may have feathers glued to it. Some strips of hide on front of cap with contemporary red feathers fluffs glued on.
Two "horns" on either side of cap are carved wood strung through the interior of the cap, and also attached to each other over the top of the cap with a wire wrapped in same pink satin ribbon. Replacement dyed purple feather fluffs adhered to wooden loop. Bottom of "horns" are wrapped in pink satin ribbon, and covered with layers of glued on feathers, and topped with contemporary replacement dyed feather fluffs in orange and red. Rabbit fur "tubes" attached along the back portion of the cap with red wool attachments. Two (2) ermine hides attached on either side of brow band.
