Banded Background, Classic Moqui Pattern, Hopi (might be Navajo because of a few lazy lines) unknown weaver. Softly executed utility weave having 8 warp and 32-44 weft threads to the linear inch. Workmanship is utilitarian. Shows normal wear; selvage cords broken in places, corner tassels largely missing, a few small holes and small areas worn thin, small areas of old repair with 4-ply commercial wool yarn, a small area of modern restoration near one corner but in very good condition. Hopi banded background, old style Moqui type with alternating narrow bands of natural dark brown and indigo, interspersed with white and four rows of alternating picks of black and white, (No lazy lines, hence probably Hopi). JBW noticed a few lazy lines so might be Navajo 1850-1870). JBW evaluation.
