Remington used the subject of the horse reacting to the rattlesnake to create one of his most daring sculptures. He modeled the horse as a dynamic curve pulling away from the small, but deadly snake. Dissatisfied with his first version of this sculpture, Remington reworked it extensively making this larger and more compact version.
