Gloss:
Known primarily for his images of the American cowboy, Matthews also uses his watercolor brushes to paint striking portrayals of the landscape. In Thermal Spigot he evokes the mystery of Yellowstone's geyser activity in the conjunction between darkening clouds and the erupting column of water.
