Remarks:
Calamity Jane's vest - Brain-tanned buckskin, commercial pattern cut with V neck, 6 button front, slash pocket each side of front belted back with 2 pronged metal buckle imprinted: A.S.C.O.; machine sewn with tan thread, blue, brown and white plaid cotton lining, possibly home spun. Fronts are applique beaded with a crow-style floral design, left side mirrors right, bead colors are pink, clear medium blue, white, orange/white hearts, green, yellow, greasy blue, clear dark red, clear dark rose, red/white hearts and periwinkle blue. Upper back is also applique beaded with similar motifs as used on fronts, bead colors are clear cut dark green, pink, yellow, green, orange/white hearts, clear dark rose, white, medium blue, navy blue, clear medium blue and periwinkle blue.
