Gloss:
Rungius was living in Alberta when the New York Zoological Society suggested that he paint a wolverine. He wrote that he was pleased because "this is wolverine country and I can look for a good setting." Always more interested, however, in large game animals than in small species, Rungius painted only this one depiction of a wolverine during his career.
